For over 125 years, the New York Public Library has been a vital resource for free books, information, ideas, and education for all residents of New York. Established in 1895, NYPL stands as the largest public library system in the nation, boasting 92 locations throughout the Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island. This includes our esteemed research centers, such as the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, and The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts.
Alongside our circulating branches, which feature the newly opened Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library (SNFL), the Library offers An exceptional wealth of resources and
opportunities accessible to everyone. With support from both public funding and private contributions, the New York Public Library embarks on its next 125 years with a passionate commitment to addressing the evolving needs of our patrons.
For the millions who rely on us in this vibrant and diverse city, NYPL has never been more crucial. True New Yorkers understand this, which is why we have developed a campaign that not only reflects this sentiment but also amplifies it. This initiative embraces the unique cynicism and sarcasm of New Yorkers, while also showcasing their distinctive style of hospitality.
